B.A.S.E. at Home: Magician Mayhem (Two Card Tricks)

The 4 Aces Card Trick:

Step 1: Shuffle the deck and then pull out all four aces.

(Be sure to do this before the trick, and not in front of the audience.)

Step 2: Place the four aces on the top of the deck.

(Again, be sure to do this before the trick, and not in front of the audience.)

Step 3: Lay out four piles. (This is where the trick begins in front of an audience.)

Step 4: Pick up the pile that is the FARTHEST away from the pile with the aces.

Step 5: Pick up that pile and count three cards to put down, and then place one card on each of the other piles. Once this is completed, put the rest of the pile back down on top of the three cards you counted.

Step 6: Once you’ve completed this step with the first pile, repeat the same steps with the second, third and fourth piles. When completed, you will have four piles like this:

THE REVEAL: All four aces have magically flown to the tops of the piles.

Piles of 13 Card Trick:

Step 1: Shuffle the deck. Turn one card over and then add cards until you get to 13.

NOTE: As an example below, the first card is a 9 so I counted another card for 10, another for 11, another for 12, and a last for 13. If the first card was a 3 I would count another for 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13. Aces count as the number 1, and Jack’s are 11, Queens 12, and Kings 13 (so you would not add any cards to a King).

Step 2: Keep making piles of 13 until you run out of cards or don’t have enough to get to 13. If you don’t have enough to get to 13, then hold those extra cards.

NOTE: The number 3 and the cards on top of it are my extra cards in this case.

If there are some piles with only 1 or 2 cards, add them to the extra cards pile too.

Step 3: Choose 3 of the piles to flip over, and then collect the rest of the piles and add them to the extra cards pile.

Step 4: Turn over 2 of the 3 top cards on the piles.

Step 5: Pick up the extra card pile and put down 10 cards. This step never changes.

Step 6: Next, count whatever number is on the first card that is flipped over on the three piles. In this case that is the number 9, so 9 cards.

Step 7: Then, count whatever number is on the second card that is flipped over on the three piles. In this case that is an ace which counts for the number 1, so 1 card.

Step 8: Count the remaining cards in your hand. That number will be the number on the last top card to flip over. In this case, that number is an 8.

THE REVEAL: In this case it is an 8!

MAGIC!
