Our Lady of Pompei : Grade 6 Tea Party

On Tuesday, June 5th, the Grade 6 students were treated to their very first English Tea Party, complete with real tea cups, English tea and treats. Some of the students said it was an amazing experience. It was fun learning the proper etiquette for attending the tea party. We all got dressed up into our party clothes and we all did our best to sit properly, feet on the ground, to always say “please” and “thank you”.

Did you know there is a proper way to stir the sugar in your cup? It is not stirred in circles, but rather back and forth. It was interesting learning all the do’s and don’ts and we ate some delicious English treats like scones, lemon squares, and let’s not forget about those delicious cucumber sandwiches.

For some of us, it was our first time drinking tea, some liked it and others didn’t like it much. The afternoon was so much fun. We will remember this for a long time I guess having an educator that was born in England has its benefits, at least it did for us… Thanks Mrs. Rosa!
