Carlyle International: Snow Globe Art

On January 23, 2018, the students of Carlyle B.A.S.E. Daycare awoke to interesting news:  a winter storm had cancelled school! It was a snow day! What a wonderful opportunity to capture Canada’s weather in a work of art.

We thought about what the city and country looks like in a snowstorm and what we would like to show in our art.  We then took a white paper and painted the night sky with watercolours. We folded our paper in half and drew a half circle, which we cut out and glued to black construction paper.

We then drew the subjects we wanted to show in the snowstorm, cut them out and glued them to our paper snow globes. We used white paper and cotton swabs to dab snowflakes onto our globes to finish our work. The artwork is displayed outside our daycare room. What a winter wonderland.
