Michelangelo: Soil vs. Dirt

Johanna Donovan, B.A.S.E. Media Advisor

Monday, April 10, 2017, B.A.S.E. Daycare Green Club representatives, along with Green Club Animator Van Ferrier, gave a workshop to fellow students on all-things soil. With the better weather finally here, Green Club students are anxious to get into their gardens and focus on making sure their soil is healthy for the growing season!

The workshop covered such topics as the difference between soil and dirt, what you might find in healthy soil, and composting. Students particularly enjoyed discovering a bug in the compost soil example and squirming over videos of squiggly “composters” working away at breaking down foods to create rich soil. What a fun break from a regular school day!
