Coronation: B.A.S.E Daycare, Budding Science

Stefanie Erskine, B.A.S.E. Animator

carmelo-silly-putty_edit This fall, Pre-Kindergarten students from Coronation Elementary School were busy becoming young budding scientists. Using only a few household ingredients, students learned about the many different types of chemical reactions that can happen when mixing certain ingredients together. The class had a lot of fun when we experimented with combining water, glue, food colouring and borax together to make Silly Putty! Once the mixing process was complete, students were then able to examine and play with their new gooey creations.

“I picked the colour green so it looks more like slime, even though it’s not really slimy. Silly Putty is really fun. It’s stretchy and can bounce on the table,” explained Carmelo, a Pre-Kindergarten student from Coronation School.
